Theme Editor

The theme editor provides a tree editor to control the various aspects of the theme. These include the ability to control fonts (color, size, weight, font family); borders; foreground and background colors and text alignment for each of the core elements of a report (including the report itself), dashboard slide and publication.

General Theme Settings

Defaults and Inheritance

To simplify the theme definition, administrators can define certain settings as being either the "report default" or an inherited value of the "parent" setting.

  • Report Defaults are defined in the main report tab and affect basic font settings and the core theme colors used throughout the theme
  • Inherited values are set at the "general" level for grids and charts:
    • For grids, it's the general tab in the grid sub-section;
    • For charts, it's the general tab in the chart sub-section;
Colors

Colors are defined using an 8 character HEXADECIMAL value. The first 2 characters denote the alpha value (transparency), while the remaining 6 colors denote the color selection itself. Users can manually key in the hex values or click the color picker button to select the color visually. Transparent alpha settings should be used sparingly. Instead, users should select lighter opaque colors where possible.

6-digit HEX values are valid, and will implicitly assume full opacity (i.e. no alpha settings).

Publications Theme Editor

To create templates for your publications, users must first add a page size and orientation under the Publish > Pages node. Once added, the settings for the template's cover, header and footer can be set and designed for end users. Asset images can be added to templates as well as text and hash text fields that will be rendered by the publication engine at run time.

To place assets on to the canvas, simply drag-and-drop them from the asset tree found on the right hand side of the editor panel.

Note: Each template can have only one version of a given page size and orientation combination.

Saving Theme Changes

Once changes are made to the selected theme, click the save button in the top right hand corner of the panel to commit changes or click cancel to abort. Once either button has been clicked, the user will be returned the to the theme library listing.
